2004: The team's leading
receiver in 2004, catching 69 passes for 722 yards and a team-high
27 touchdowns. Averaged 55.5 yards per game and 10.5 yards per
carry. Returned four kicks for 27 yards. The team's leading scorer
with 164 points. Caught one point after touchdown pass in 2004.
2003: Spencer played
all 14 games for the Horsemen in 2003, finishing third on the team
in receiving with 54 catches for 545 yards and 16 touchdowns. His
season was highlighted by a 12-catch, 108-yard, three-touchdown
performance at Fort Wayne on July 5.
College: Spencer began
his college career at Kentucky , where he started in nine games
at tight end as a true freshman, catching 10 passes for 134 yards
and earning a spot on the Knoxville News-Sentinel Freshman All-SEC
team. After leaving UK in 1997, he returned to college in 2000
and played in three national championship games (winning two) with
Georgetown College . As a senior in 2002, Spencer made 50 receptions
for 725 yards and five touchdowns, and was named to the Hansen
All-American Honorable Mention team and the All-Mid-South Conference
second team. Spencer was also named to the All-Mid-South Conference
second team as a junior, when he caught 35 passes for 535 yards
and four touchdowns.
